OBERSERVATIONS FROM SOMEONE HALF-WATCHING | OCT 18, 2026

Another great week of games came down the past few days. Here’s my two-cents on why college football is so awesome:

Big, big, big win for UAB last Thursday. Really liking the new coach. Can they actually get to a bowl game this year? That would be a big deal.

Auburn-Georgia: This was a football miracle! Full disclosure, I am an Auburn guy. That being said – that was a huge win. Phenomenal TD catch by #5, too. Georgia didn’t look right for most of the game, except for glimpses. Still think they are really good.

Alabama-Tennessee: Shocked by by this one. Didn’t really see any of the game so not sure how it played out. Love the orange/red jerseys on the field and Neyland is always a great atmosphere. I think both teams are pretty solid and will be making noise coming down the stretch. Having to play this one right after playing Georgia did not do Alabama any favors.

Pitt needs to keep their yellow hats on all-the-time. I still say those are some of the greatest helmets out there.

UCLA might be my favorite team this year. Great story from a program that has been a non-factor for too long. Hope they can keep it up.

Northwestern (5-1) & Kentucky (6-1) are having fantastic years so far, too.

Texas-Florida: Can anyone figure out the Gators? It seems you never know what you are going to get. Big win for them.

BYU QB: Is this guy for real? #47! Loved him guiding his lineman after catching the double-pass and taking it in for the TD. Another great game yesterday and a HUGE win for BYU over Notre Dame.

Arizona State is another team I think needs to stick with their yellow helmets. The white ones do not work. If I am seeing this right, they are 1-11 wearing the white helmets over the past 5 years.

Harvard won again and is 5-0.

Check back in next week. More great games and things I never thought would happen to talk about.
