Oracle Steps Up
Every city needs a corporate community they can rely on.
Even with all the great things Nashville has going on, stuff happens.
The Nashville Symphony has run into some severe financial issues that came to light recently.
And when I say financial issues, I mean it was disclosed they had a $10m+ operating budget deficit.
In the past couple of weeks, the Symphony suspended the 2026-2027 season, furloughed staff & all musicians, had the new CEO resign and saw its future existence in question.
Their longtime supporter, Martha Ingram, passed away in August. She had always been a huge believer in the symphony and backed the $20m mortgage on their home-base, the Schermerhorn Symphony Center (which is a beautiful facility).
Things were looking bleak. Very bleak.
However, in a city that has so many great companies based there or that have large-scale operations there, there is usually an answer.
But $10,000,000 is a large ask for almost anyone.
Almost anyone except someone like Oracle.
Oracle immediately stepped in with a pledge of $10m and has saved the day for now. The furloughs have been cancelled, the season is back on, and immediate cash needs have been addressed.
Oralce is in the process of creating their new global HQ on a 70-acre piece of land on the East Bank of the Cumberland River. They want to be near Nashville’s huge healthcare and tech sectors. Nothing is really in place yet. They are planning on the first phase of their campus to open in 2028. Even so, they are really stepping up for their new home city.
Way-to-go to Oracle on being a great neighbor.
And making a great save in the Music City.
Let the music play!
