LEGION FIELD | OCT 5, 1989

Today back in 1989, The Rolling Stones brought their “Steel Wheels” tour into Birmingham’s Legion Field.

I remember thinking, if I am ever going to see them, it has to be now. These guys are going to hang it up soon. They are in their 40s.

It was a fantastic show with Living Color opening up for them.

I am pretty sure this was the first time The Stones played Birmingham since an initial tour back in 1965.

I also remember Mick Jagger went for a run in the Birmingham Botanical Gardens that day. No cell phones back then so nobody knew he was there.
