✅ Atlanta-based RaceTrac has announced plans to acquire one of my favorites, Potbelly Sandwich Works, in a $500m+ deal.

✅ My gym, Battle Republic, has moved on from their location at The Summit and is getting close to opening their newest location at Stadium Trace Village in Hoover. Other locations in Homewood and Tuscaloosa and another new one is rumored as well. Great place. Join up.

👀 This is fantastic: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital has announced their plans to build a second Advanced Research Center on its Memphis Campus. This will be the single largest building project in their history.

🎵 Johnny Cash was #1 today in 1969 with “A Boy Named Sue”.

🛣️ ROADTRIP: The Pensacola Seafood Festival is coming up Sept 26th – 28th.

🏈 HIRING: The Las Vegas Raiders are looking for a Counsel to join their operation. Not sure what all that does, but I bet it would be an awesome job.

✔️ CONGRATS: Leadership Alabama, Inc. on recently celebrating the program’s 35th anniversary at The Grand Hotel in Point Clear.

👀 HIRING: the Poarch Creek Indians need a Graphic Designer to work with them at their offices in Atmore, AL.

☑️ 2020 was just a terrible year. A prime example is Hurricane Sally made landfall today in Gulf Shores (and pretty much right on top of Gail & John Truitt’s condo).

📅 SEPT 24: Auburn University Harbert College of Business hosting a “Meet the Dean” event at the Auburn Building in downtown Birmingham. Event starts at 5:30.

👀 The new Academy Sports + Outdoors in Cullman has opened! Congrats to Drinkard Development on another great addition to the area.

✅ I see where convenience store Casey’s, who has some great pizza by the way, has plans to expand into Alabama. Can’t wait. Bring it on!

🎵 The Sugar Hill Gang’s “Rapper’s Delight” was released today in 1979 and it changed everything.

📅 OCT 2 – 4: Birmingham’s 52nd Annual Greek Festival is back and more awesome than ever.

📅 OCT 7: Mississippi State University College of Business is having a Business, Bulldogs & Brews event at the Grand Bohemian Hotel in Mountain Brook.

🏌The University of Alabama at Birmingham Men’s Golf Team (and our favorite coach, Jackson Wedgeworth) is hosting the GMAC Invitational Monday & Tuesday at Limestone Springs in Oneonta. Get out and support them.
