I’m starting something new today.
Folks are out there doing great stuff. A lot of it goes unnoticed.
I’m going to start celebrating those wins every Friday!
I really like this idea.
All that said, let’s get to this week’s shout-outs!

🤩 HIGH-FIVE: Chattanooga-area native, Auburn University guest, TRUITT NEWS RADIO-guest, and all-around great guy Jamy Wheless is an amazing animator out in California. He has been involved with some incredible work in a bunch of movies you know. Anyway, Jamy’s IGNITE Animation Studios did a short film called “Andy: A Dog’s Tale” which has really done well. So much so, it has been turned into a fantastic children’s book.
Jamy is now on a book-tour and is in Birmingham Sunday at Little Professor Bookshop in Homewood signing copies. Come out and pick one up starting at 2pm.

🤩 HIGH-FIVE: The University of Montevallo men’s basketball team as they kick off the season tonight in Ft. Lauderdale against Barry University. The Falcons are picked to win the Gulf South Conference this year.

🤩 HIGH-FIVE: Penn National Insurance, one of our great partners at Truitt Insurance & Bonding Inc., on receiving an “A (Excellent)” rating by AM Best reaffirming the company’s financial ability to meet their obligations to policyholders.

🤩 HIGH-FIVE: Bham-native, TRUITT NEWS RADIO alum, Birmingham-Southern College alum, incredibly successful former Mountain Brook High School and, most recently, Samford University basketball coach, Bucky McMillan, as he gets his first season as head coach at Texas A&M University underway. They are 2-1 at the moment with the University of Central Florida coming to Aggieland tonight I’m not sure how long it is going to take him, but I am pretty sure they are going to be really good, soon, with Bucky at the helm.

🤩 HIGH-FIVE: TRUITT NEWS RADIO alum David Friederich and his team at the Barnsley Resort in Adairsville, GA. They were just named North America’s Best Golf Hotel and Georgia’s Best Golf Hotel in the 2025 World Golf Awards! I’m not even a golfer and I can tell you, this place is awesome. It is right outside Rome, GA so it’s really easy to get to for so many of us in Alabama. Go check it out for a golf trip or quick-getaway. Really nice and they have a ton to do. You will like it.
