U.S. Naval Academy Founded

Today, October 10th, way back in 1845, the U.S. Naval Academy was founded in Annapolis, MD.

They started with 50 midshipmen and 7 professors.

Beautiful place, if you have ever been, and it is an insanely good engineering school.

School for Midshipmen is covered by the U.S. Government so no tuition, no room & board, and medical and dental care are free, too.

In exchange, every Midshipmen is considered active-duty military personnel from Day 1 and must serve a minimum of 5 years in the service upon graduation.

Love the Herndon Monument Climb, too. Great tradition!
